I am on the last few chapters and am still nervous and scared to stop smoking. Wondering if anyone has read this book and successfully quit with his method and if you have any advice on how to turn the withdrawal pangs into a positive thought. I am not known to think positively very often.

I just quit 30 days ago now... and after smoking for 10 years I know how tough it can be. There is nothing such as cold turkey in quitting. It has to be gradual withdrawal. Check what strenght cigarettes your mom used to smoke and then ask her to smoke half the strenght and half the amount for a few weeks and then half the strenght and amount again for a few weeks do this until she is smoking 2mg cigarettes and no more then 5 a day. After a while, replace the cigarettes with Nicotine gums and finally try going without cigarettes. It took me 6 weeks, but I'm off cigarettes for good. I used to smoke a pack a day and now I don't need cigarettes at all.

I have smoked pot for about 5 years pretty heavily. I am 21 and in college and i REALLY want to stop smoking pot...... but i cant! I've tried and in a week or two i find myself smoking again.

You also need to take a break from the people in your life that smoke pot. It's not that they're bad people, it's just that they are each a possible enabler. Don't hang around anyone who will enable you.
Also, you're in college? Do you smoke as a way to deal with stress or just as a time waster?
If you smoke to deal with stress you need to find another outlet. I would suggest Racketball.
If you smoke to blow off some extra time, I would suggest making your schedule so busy that literally you don't have time to smoke.

The pressure's of professionalism can be a positive influence. I know many people who have used professional situations to force themselves to quit smoking, or drinking.

I've been smoking cigarettes when drinking for the past year. I will have from one cig to waking up and having no cigs left.
