I stopped smoking 3 days ago. I knew there would be some side effects from doing so, but all the muscles on the left side of my neck and shoulders have gone incredibly tense and painfull. Has anyone suffered anything like this from stopping smoking? Could it be unrelated? Can you recommend stop smoking websites with a good FAQ section?
congratulations on quitting, Keep it up, its the best decision you can make. I never experienced any symptoms as u describe, but nicotine anonymous has a great online website with both message boards and also live online meetings, like a chat room, there are meeting every day you can go to,, also with voice, not just typing.. its pretty cool and alot of verynice people there...

Everyone quits smoking dozens of times every day. But stopping permanently without suffering from withdrawal or weight gain is a trick - and you ...
I have been smoking pot every day for about ten years. Part of the reason is that it helps with symptoms I have from having my colon removed a few years ago (such as diahrea). I want to stop smoking because I think the pot may be interrupting my ability to concentrate during the day, even when I'm not high, or don't feel high. But then again I wasn't good at concentrating even before I started smoking pot. So I'm not sure stopping will help with that.
My husband and I have been smoking pot for about the same time you have. We have also thought about quitting but not too sure if it will make us better or not. Honestly, it cuts back on our smoking cigarettes and drinking so, I think we will keep smoking pot. We enjoy it socially and responsibly. If we stop, I think we will probably be "not so nice people"...LOL Enjoy!

I have stopped smoking 2 months now-I have been through a hurrendous time but now starting to feel the benefit of it,I am 52 years old and dont want to patronise anybody whats soever .I would just like to say why i stopped and if possible give a little advise.I have tried 4 years to stop but just kept using every excuse i could think of,as you do when you are a smoker.I knew deep down my health was getting worse {breathing wise} but still the excuses came.then one morning i got up breathless and feeling very ill.as it turned out i had got pnuemonia and pluerisy from a chest infection which i took no notice of cause i would rather of ad the smoke.this was my oportunity to stop, i realised you cant do anything when you cant breathe right Please dont think 4 one minute i am a preacher i not.iam just trying to pass on my own experiance and for you 2 to be honest are you in the same position.please stop. if i can any1 can -would b nice 2 know of other people experinces-helps to keep me pos
I am 52 yrs old also and gave up smoking 9 weeks ago, i had an awful cough and wheezing and really thought that it was too late and even giving up wouldnt make me any better, well thankfully i was wrong i can almost run up hill and my cough has gone completely, even ater only 9 weeks, i feel loads better and my skin is glowing, It is very hard to stop smoking but as you say not being able to breath easily is one of the most frightening things.
hope we can both keep it up
and just general apathy. I feel so apathetic after stopping smoking now, it has been 2 1/2 weeks so far.
Thanks for your answers!
you are doing great ... I found around 3 weeks I was past the craving stage ..just remember it's important that anything you feel after the cravings are gone is almost just ...HABIT so find a simple way to overcome that but don't give up now! you are past the worst of it ...I found by putting the money that I would have spent on them into a box and at the end of every week I count it and then by the end of the month I would buy something for the home, my car, or for myself...that was a great incentive for me...wishing all that is good.
What are the benifits of stopping smoking? I think that if I can understand this it will help me in my struggle to stop.
struggle is the right word, I have tried to quit several times, its not easy, but when you finally do,the benefits from it are great, like better sense of smell and taste, increased sex drive, you lungs start to heal the damage done to them, your hair and clothes dont smell like an ashtray(or your mouth, which is great for that whole increase in sex drive ;) ) there a tons of benefits, just search the web.
