Do you guys know like some sort of sweets or something to use if you want to stop smoking instead of using nicotine patch?
By far, the most effective treatment to stop smoking is a prescription drug called Chantix. I work in a pharmacy and know many people that have quit smoking using it. Even my mother who has smoked for over 30 years has quit using this drug. Believe it or not, drugs such as this one are rarely discovered and every smoker should take advantage of this.
But before you start using this drug, make sure you are really ready to quit. You should start by modifying your behavior first. For example, if you always smoke when you get in your car, find something else to do when you get in your car rather than smoke.

i was wondering if you should not smoke a day before you put the patch on or can you put the patch on a few minutes after you smoke a cigarette?
the best time to start using the patch is when u are commited to want to stop smoking... the best time is to start the day off fresh with one...so when u first wake up...say tomorrow morning..then put it on.
i want to quit smoking cus ive been smoking for a year and now im having trouble breathing. i tried nic gum but it doesnt work and is too expensive. what can i use to help?
I quit cold turkey, and it's been almost a year and a half now. This is my second time quitting, the first time was for 8 months. I had started again the first time because I constantly put myself in situations where I would normally smoke - so I recommend trying to avoid situations where you smoke, and maybe try to hang out with friends who don't smoke exclusively for awhile.
I have friends who have done the gum, the patch, the lozenges, the inhaler... etc etc. Nothing works for them. Personally, I think that having a scape goat like gum just sets you up for failure, because you are still working with the idea that you NEED something - either smoking, or something to replace the smoking.
In my opinion, the only way to really quit for good is with sheer willpower, and with changing the way you think - by teaching yourself to dislike smoking, and to not need smoking.
PS: if you are having trouble breathing, you should really see a doctor.
as my boyfriend has stopped smoking for 3 days - I'm convinced he still smells a bit (I'm hypersensitive to this) when we're close and think there's still some nicotine left in his system. am I right?
Nicotine doesnt smell and should have left his body, are you sure he's not having a crafty one when your not there. Or does he hang around with smokers as the smoke will get onto his clothes from them
