I've never smoked a cigarette in my life but most of my family smokes so I've been exposed to a lot of second hand smoke. So I was wondering how much second hand smoke do I have to be exposed to for the damage to my lungs to be the same as if I smoked a cigarette?
second hand smoke is actually WORSE than first hand smoke
second hand smoke fart
I got drug tested a couple days ago (Wed.) and the Saturday before I got a little bit of second hand smoke from a friend. It was just 1 small inhale, I was just able to only smell it really. No harm right? Because they send it to the lab, it isn't just one of those home test kits. I haven't actually smoked myself in over a year.
You have to actually smoke it for it to show up on a drug test.
You're fine....
My girlfriends mother owns a casino in China and has to always be on the floor overseeing it. However almost everyone who is in the casino smokes. She is a non-smoker herself but has started to develop a cough due probably to the second-hand smoke.
I was wondering if there is some sort of air purifier or air cleaning device out there. Or if anyone knew some ways to reduce the amount of smoke she is inhaling.
I suppose she could step out for a few minutes every hour but would that really help?
There are small, portable air purifiers/filters that are worn around the neck - little bigger than a pack of cigarettes. Not too attractive around your neck but, if she is worried about having lung cancer down the road, unless she changes jobs soon, this might be an option for her. They can be found in places that sell to asthmatics and people with respiratory problems and allergies.
My family, including a new born, live with a smoker, who smokes outside but upon re-entry into the house, you can still smell a little lingering smoke. Is this bad for me and my new born? Is this considered second hand smoke?
Good question. I had the same doubt. I asked my friend who is a nurse, she said it is the smoke itself that contains the harmful substance. Not the scent of it. But it still bothers me.
I know that it cant possibly be good for anyone to breathe second hand smoke- But is it MORE dangerous to babies?
I would like to find out before my baby is born- So that I cant talk to my mother about making my dad quit.
Links that I can print out for her to read would be nice =]
Thanks.
It greatly increases the risk of sids

Wynn Resorts Sued For Second Hand Smoke Exposure
Wynn Resorts, ( WYNN : 63.07 0.00% ) Las Vegas casino employees have filed suit against the gaming company, citing the negative effects of second hand smoke exposure. The suit is being handled by Kamber Edelson law firm from Chicago, and is the second case of such taken on by the firm. In July, Kamber Edelson filed a similar action by workers at Caesar’s Palace.
The suit alleges that that long term exposure to second hand smoke leads to an array of illnesses. Employees involved in the suit have stated that Wynn casino management prohibits dealers to designate certain tables as smoke free, to request patrons to move ash trays or to make negative gestures, such as, fanning smoke away.
