but it's very hard to quit. I've started some hypnotherapy to
learn to relax and breathe deeply and it's increasing my
desire to quit, but I need some things that were the deciding
factor in helping you quit. Thanks very much.
Believe it or not, I tried all the gimmicks and none of them worked. What worked was putting myself in a position where cigarettes were not available for 4 days. ( In 3 days the craving will peak and start to diminish.) I went camping in the woods without cigarettes.
When I returned home, I ate a lot of sugar free life savers. Whenever I found myself wanting a cigarette, (Fidgeting, After meals, Wish I could say after sex, but wasn't that lucky), I popped a sugar free life saver. I used Sugar Free because I didn't want to gain a lot of weight.
I also avoided the places where I enjoyed smoking. The pool hall, bars, etc.
After 3 months, I no longer had the craving. After 6 months I became one of those reformed smokers that complain about everyone else doing what I used to do.

I have tried to quit cold turkey 3 times but can't stick to it. Cutting sdown slowly doesn't work fo rme either. I DO really want to quit but the addiction is really strong.
I smoked for 20 years and have stopped for 10 weeks now. I used patches (available from NHS) and prepared myself very well by changing some routines, especially in the morning. I haven't found it anything like as hard as I thought I would. I also read the Allen Carr Easyway book which is a great help. The book tells you not to use patches but I found the combination worked for me.

I quit smoking and in the first week I noticed I could run further and breath better. I also have alot more energy that I used to. It makes a big difference in sleeping patterns as well.
Never smoked a day in my entire life. Was too intelligent to start in the first place! Have healthy habbit of a whole lifetime of not smoking. Will live longer and not stink like a freight train!

No you are not alone. It's totally normal to have crazy dreams after you stop smoking pot if you have been an active smoker for a long time. Your brain is having to rewire itself in a way.
