me and my husband want to quit smoking. What is the best product to use b/c we have smoked for several years?
WOW - Here's my chance to REALLY share some personal experience information at Yahoo Answers . . . THANX for the memory. . .
CREDENTIALS = 40 year smoker; 3 time 'quitter'; clean now for 19 months
Successful quitting requires - first and foremost -
An ABSOLUTE DESIRE to BE a non-smoker, FOREVER MORE. . . without THAT, you are wasting your time and energy in attempting to be tobacco/nicotine free.
My first attempt - (10 yr smoker) - shear will power due to pregnancy - succeeded for 7 months - resumed cigarettes at onset of labor
My second attempt - (28 yr smoker) - pneumonia leading to use of nicorette - succeeded for 4 months - rapid weight gain prompted return to smoking
My 3rd attempt - (40 yr smoker) - cost became prohibitive and a new life parter does not smoke - I began unlimited nicorette use for 7 months - then came acceptance of self with rapid weight gain over the past year, after total detox from nicotine
That's a very brief synopsis of my 'quitting' experience --- leading full circle (back) to my opening statement . . .
The BEST PRODUCT to help you quit smoking IS -
DESIRE TO SUCCEED regardless of the "AFTER" EFFECTS
WeMakeYouKnow.com -- Quit Smoking Product Do you really want to quit smoking? Once again ask yourself, and make sure that you really want to quit ...
Have you tried it or know anyone who has,I am thinking of giving it a go.
(This product might have been out for up to a year but I am not sure?)
Its called cold turkey.

Nicorette gum
which product has helped you quit smoking best? i heard the patch was good, but i am also considering affordability and brand. PLEASE HELP. my new year's resolution is to quit smoking before my birthday in february!
No product can make you quit smoking if you don't have the determination to do it. I quit years ago cold turkey. Not all of these "crutch" products were around then but some were. The first few days were miserable but then things got better. Physical addiction is said to last only 24-48 hours so slapping on a patch simply prolongs this.
What finally got me over the hump was the realization that smoking is a ridiculous habit from a dollars and cents standpoint. For example, If you smoke a $7.00 pack per day and quit you've got an extra $7.00 that day or $49.00 by the end of the week and almost $215 by the end of the month. After a year you've got $2500 as a result of the simple act of not lighting a piece of weed and sucking the smoke into your lungs.
If you are 25 years old when you quit and you can earn 6% after taxes on your money you'll have about $385,000 at age 65. Do you know how few people have this kind of cash when they retire? All you have to do to get it is to stop smoking! Keep your eye on the prize.
I have been smoking for over 30 years. I have cut down significantly since my son was born, never smoking around him, never in the house. I would like to kick the habit and would like some advice on who has used what produce and had the most success.
"Different strokes for different folks!",...yeah, I know, It's corny,
but it's also true!
Check with your Doctor and get some advise from American Cancer Society and/or the American Lung Association!
Best of Luck to you and yours!

Hi Robert..
congrats on your decision to quit.. as your finding out, its seldom easy..I smoked for over 40 years, and tried most of the methods available.. i tried the patches, pills, and various, and sundry concoctions, from health food stores.. in fact the last 5 years of my smoking, was simply one failed quit after another..
the good news of course, is that i did in fact find a method that worked for me, otherwise i wouldn’t be typing this reply.. i have been quit now for over 5 years because i quit trying to do it alone.. i joined a support group, and just didn’t quit quitting..
I am a member of Nicotine Anonymous and attend meetings both locally, and on line… on line meetings are as close as your computer, and you can attend meetings before actually attempting a quit.. good luck, however you decide to proceed, there is simply no wrong way to quit..
