Well see I just realized my drug test involves alcohol too..saliva based..now I had two glasses of wine to celebrate tonight at dinner. Now I realized that might not of been smart..My test will be in like 2 days I know 100 percent that I have 29 hours atleast until the test. But does anyone know how long it will stay in my saliva? and if it is will I not get hired? anyone have any FACT based evidence, or done a test before, or know positively..THANKS A LOT!
you don't have anything to worry about. alcohol is metabolized at the rate of about one ounce per hour. at the most give it an hour and a half per ounce. it doesn't remain in your saliva either. it is totally eliminated from your body after it is metabolized. it is eliminated via the urine, sweat, and respiration

I recently had an interview for a job and was told that they tested for drugs through saliva. I'm a college student and usually have a few (6 to 7) beers with my friends at night. Will alcohol show up on this test and if so for about how long?
alcohol is processed through the body completly 8 hours after entering the bloodstream.
however an employers drug test is not usualy looking for alcohol. typicaly they are looking for pot coke or other signs of a bigger problem. these drugs also leave residue in the system longer although I am not an rxpert on how long.
I drank an 8 oz bottle of brandy on Sunday, and took a saliva swab test on Wednesday- will this show up on the swab test?
I would say you're good. There aren't many tests done to calculate how long it lasts, mostly because alcohol is legal if you're the right age. I know I did a medical thing to calculate how long it stays in your blood stream. You can usually clean it out in 48 hours, so since you only had 8oz and its been much longer, I can't imagine anyone being able to find it in your blood much less your saliva.
Can anyone explain why my friend had a false positive on a saliva alcohol swab test. He had his last drink 48 hours prior to the test. He is 5'10" and weighs 210 lbs. He was drinking Whiskey and Water...got pretty drunk that night too.
He is currently taking blood pressure medication 40 mg (Benicar), testosterone 400 mg per week and growth hormone 3iu's a day. Could any of this affected the test?
Please don't guess...If you are not sure then please don't bother answering.
he had 3 cups of coffee that morning and that was it...he didn't use mouthwash....he didn't drink a beer...we can't explain why it came up a false negative...unless maybe something was in the air that got on the swab...it has baffled us...there is no funny business...he really had NOT drank any alcohol and the test was not a bad test because the tech put it in her mouth and it came up negative. We just don't know what it could have been in his system to make it come up positive.
more details: he was in a rear-end accident where he was the victim, but his company sent him in for a drug test as procedure, he had stood on the highway for several hours before being transported to the facility for the test, could the fumes from vehicles have done this? What about if he has liver damage or kidney damage from past steroid use...would that impair his body's ability to remove the alcohol as quickly from his system?
Did he use a mouthwash shortly before the test? Mouthwashes are a common cause for a false positive. Did he consume any alcohol containing food?
There really is no other explanation other than the test was faulty or he had consumed a food/drink containing ethanol. Possibly liqueur chocolates?
