There is a piece of software called "Lab Tracker" that was originally developed to track labs for those with HIV, but it should be adaptable to other results as well. A search would determine whether this can be downloaded or where it can be purchased.

You could also set up Excel databases to track these results.

When the laboratory takes a blood test?

which one is the name of the one for liver function? Thanks......

There are different tests done to check the
liver.
(1)The blood "liver enzymes" are the ALT, AST,
Alkaline Phosphatase and the GGT
These will signify if the liver cells may have
damage done to them. These enzymes
are in the liver cells and if there is damage
they leak out into the blood and this is what
is picked up on your lab work results
(2) There is the blood "liver functions" test
which are the Bilirubin, Albumin, INR, Pt, Ptt
and Total Protein. The liver cells are what
does over 500 functions to keep the body
well. When these cells are damaged and
start to die off, then the functions that the
liver does as a whole, start to deteriorate.
Those tests I mentioned give the doctor an
idea of whether the cells can do the needed
functions.
(3) They usually do a viral testing, also, to
see if a virus has entered the body and has
gone to the liver to use the liver cells to
replicate itself.

To look up any of the above tests, I mentioned
above:

Click on this link and insert the test abbreviation
or name to learn more. It really isn't that
hard to understand.

Hope this information has been of help to you.

Do you mean if you personally have problems with particular foods..?

If so you can get blood tests done to show food allergies or intolerances, but there is also certain blood types of people that need to have a different diet to the norm.

  • Bacteria Blood Culture Lab Test | Current Health Articles 2009

A blood culture is done mainly for bacteria and if any growth is seen, further tests are done to identify the type of bacteria. A gram stain may be done using special types of stain to identify different organisms. Certain microorganisms pick up and retain the purple color and are called gram-positive organisms, while other organisms lose the purple stain and retain the red stain and are called gram-negative . No special preparation is needed before a blood culture and there is not much discomfort except for the needle prick.

A normal value means that no organism could be grown in the laboratory and hence there is no infection in the blood, while a positive result will show the growth and multiplication of organisms in the specimen. Treatment can then be commenced according to the micro-organism identified and the sensitivity or action of various drugs on it. Three blood cultures may need to be done to confirm results because of variable bacterial infection in the blood.
