I am 22 years old. I had sexual intercourse on the 24 May 2009. I did a pregnancy home test twice on 17 and 18 June 2009.They both read positive. I did a blood test on 22 June 2009 and this read negative. Is it possible that the pregnancy home test is wrong and I am not actually pregnant?
since u havent mentioned anything about your normal cycle - whether it is regular or not, its hard to say whether uv had sex around the time of ovulation. But generally blood test ( quantitaive) are more accurate than HPTs. I suggest you visit another good lab and get the blood work done again. if the other pathology lab also gives the same result then ur not.
I was wondering how early after conception can a blood pregnancy test read positive? I am due for my period 30th of March. According to the typical ovulation schedule i would have ovulated around the 9/10th of March..i think.
Shit. I took 3 pergnancy tests and all 3 said I wasnt pregnant. Turned out I was a MONTH along! Needless to say it was "the first response" test.
I ask because I can't seem to get a home test to read positive but i am twelve days late and have been having sharp pains in my upper abdomen. I went to the gyno three weeks ago and she said I was fine and healthy( no pain then), I think I have gotten pregnant since then. This would be great but I can't seem to be able to find out. There are some women who don't spill HCG (the hormone tested for in pregnancy tests--both home and professional, urine and blood) into their urine until 2-3 *months* into a pregnancy.
You should know, however, that abdomenal pain is *not* typical of early pregnancy symptoms. It is more likely to be a sign of ovulation...think back at least 3 1/2 weeks--was there a stress in your life that could have delayed ovulation? Your period is *always* on time (about 2 weeks after ovulation), but stress can delay ovulation so that your period *seems* to be late. In this case, a pregnancy test would also be wrong because you're testing too early...

FDA OKs OVA1 Ovarian Cancer Blood Test
Sept. 11, 2009 -- The FDA approved a new ovarian cancer blood test, called OVA1, that can help detect ovarian cancer in a pelvic mass that is already known to require surgery.
In a news release, the FDA says the test helps patients and health care professionals decide what type of surgery should be done and by whom -- but not to screen for ovarian cancer and not for a definitive diagnosis of ovarian cancer.
"The OVA1 test identifies some women who will benefit from referral to a gynecological oncologist for their surgery, despite negative results from other clinical and radiological tests for ovarian cancer. If other test results suggest cancer, referral to an oncologist is appropriate even with a negative OVA1 result," the FDA states.
