what legal drugs can cause a false positive drug test?

I was recently given a drug test at the pain clinic, and after talking to friends, am concerned that I will get a false positive for methamphitamines because I take singular, byetta, abilify, cymbalta, and amytriptaline.

I wouldn't worry too much about it. Even if you end up getting a false positive, you can simply tell them that you take medication, and tell them exactly what you take. Then they might run another test or whatever. It happened to me once, the only problem I had was the brief moment of being falsely accused of doing drugs. But one look at my medical records cleared it up.

What factors can cause false positive drug test results for Meth and Barbiturates?

I am dealing with an individual that denies illegal drug use. She continues to test positive for meth. She uses an inhaler. Her drug tests have been sent off for more through testing. What do I need to know and to look for to determain if she is testing falsely or if she is using meth?

An inhaler could possibly create a false positive, depending on the brand of inhaler. I've read that primatine mist can cause a false methamphetamine positive due to the way the chemical is metabolized. She could also be popping other types of amphetamines, such as Adderall, instead of using "meth". Does she have ADHD? There's pills sold in gas stations all over the place here that have psuedoephedrine in them, which causes a false meth positive. They're often marketed for asthma sufferers.

Taurine, from energy drinks, can cause a false positive for some narcotics. Use your judgement. If the levels are low, it could be a false positive, but if the levels are high, then I think it's safe to assume that it's a correct test. Some OTC painkillers can cause a false marijuana positive, but showing levels only slightly over the "Legal" limit of THC, for example.

False positive drug test for a State of Georgia position, can I get another State of Georgia position?

I have always worked state job positions. I have never in all of my many years had a positive drug test. I applied for a position earlier this month with the state of Georgia. Today, I was informed that my drug test came back positive. They also told me that I can not hold another state position. What can I do to fight this, other then have another test, which will not count according to the state. I also called the Ga. Medical Board and they said they can retest the other part of my urine test, but they still have to go by the first answer they recieved and I will have to pay for it, $150.00. Can I get another state job or will it be written down somewhere?
No, my question does not prove that I am on something, it proves that I want my job. I have never been on drugs. I am a decent, loving mother and I dare you try to down me. I asked because I want to apply again and I want to continue applying for State of Ga. positions, if you do not know the answer, please don't assume.
It was a urine test. I did not mention that I take wellbutrin to assist with weight loss and also take alli and dexatrim. They all speed up metabolism.

False positive???

Yeah right, you do realize that there are multiple level of controls to ensure that false positive DO NOT occur.

The fact that you are asking if it will be "written down somewhere" simply proves to me that you are on something.

{edit} How dare I???? I'm not the one with a positive drug test. I have nothing to prove. That's how.

What is the best way to prove your innocence when you have a false positive drug test?

Is there a drug test final confirmation that can detect drugs in your system for a long time and is it reliable?

YES--but you better not --not even a little bit think you can pass it --you must be clean --all the way.
Go to the biggest hospital in a big city --ask for a complete full screen drug test--with permission to look for all types.
You will sign awaiver-that says what ever they say --thats it--end of story---if you are clean--do it

What can cause false positive drug test results for marijuana?

I just got an AMAZING job offer and was told that I had to take a drug test. No problem right? WRONG. The lab called and accused me of smoking weed in the last 7-10 days which is completely and totally untrue. The lab DR even suggested that I'd gotten a contact high or had, perhaps, ingested some weed. Again, not a possibility. I am a stay at home mom currently, have a chronic illness which limits what I am allowed to eat so I do 99% of my own cooking.

If I can't convince my, hopefully, new boss that the test is wrong, I'm going to lose at $85,000 per year job.
Oddly enough, I take many drugs for my illness but NONE of them showed on the drug test and the lab DR refuses to allow me to retest. He claims that my knowledge of the positive test for weed has given me time to clear my system.

Since you have a chronic illness, do you take any kind of medication? If you do find out what ingrediants are used in it. I think that there are some sort of pain killers or other medication that use a small dosage of marijuana in them to calm or relax you. I'm not really sure but that's the only reason that i can thnk of. But good luck job hunting!!!

Jeremy Mayfield: #39;I Was Worth More … as A Failed Drug Test#39; | All ...

By Holly Cain Filed under: Sprint Cup In his first national one-on-one television interview, suspended NASCAR driver Jeremy Mayfield continued to deny drug use and accused NASCAR of using him as a “a good pawn who wasn’t going to cost them any money at all.” Mayfield, who was suspended indefinitely for testing positive in a pair of drug tests this May, made the assertions on ESPN’s Outside the Lines show, which will air Sunday at 9 a.m., hours before the green flag drops for the Sprint Cup Series race at Martinsville, Va. It’s been widely reported that the positive test revealed use of methamphetamine, something Mayfield has denied. He claims the tests were a “false positive,” the result of his use of Adderall, a prescription drug for attention-hyperactivity disorder, combined with the common allergy medication, Claritin-D.
