Drug Testing

I gave my daughter a drug test and it came back positive for marijiuana. If i do another drug test in a week it will still be positive so how do I know that she isn't continuing to use drugs? Is there some drug test you can give that will let you know if she has continued to use???

That is fuct that you administer such a test. As a teenager, I would have always passed such a test, but would nevertheless resent the lack of trust or communication indicative of the very act of the test. Chances are, your kid will just switch to something a test won't detect. Mushrooms and XTC come to mind. Cocaine leaves the system quickly and if a test is not administered within a couple days, it won't show up. Educate, don't use scare tactics.

I've been at the company for months and never signed anything about drug testing nor was I told it would be a job requirement. We've recently hired a new employee and she had to take a test due to a new policy. I want to know if a company can decide to drug test employees after they've been hired without notifying them of this practice during the application process.

Please refrain from posting comments like "drugs are for idiots, losers, etc." I am a college graduate and a good employee who would like to keep his job and am not looking for moral guidance.

Companies can do random drug tests if they want - but usually they do not go back and test employees unless they have reason to suspect something or you are using company vehicles or heavy equipment that would endanger others.

I've only heard of it, but is it true that drug testing has gotten so good that any drugs that you've used in the past year can be detected?

That totally depends on the drugs people have used. Some can only be detected for days,others for weeks and only one that I know of that will show up months after the last use. I'm a nurse on a drug dependency unit and I've heard of more things that people do to either block or disguise certain drugs. It's a good idea not to use illicit drugs. Then you dont have to worry about them showing up on a drug test.

Possibly looking at 2 years deferred ajudication for assault in texas. Im not sure if it will be monitored or not. What are the chances of drug testing monthly during the 2 years, and what are the rules on alcohol? Ive been looking here, no drugs, or alcohol were involved in the incident. Am I not going to be able to legally drink for 2 years?

It depends on the conditions of your probation. If one of them is no alcohol, then you should not drink. Of course, if you do, you will revoke your probation and forfeit your deferred adjudication.
